Full job description

DEBRA have an exciting opportunity, not to be missed! We are currently looking for an Community Support Area Manager (Scotland) to join our friendly team. Working from home full time 35 hours per week with attendance to the DEBRA Head Office in Bracknell, Berkshire as required for training/team meetings. Ability to travel to client home visits and clinics throughout Scotland is essential. We are offering a competitive salary, rewards & benefits

To provide a community support, information, and advocacy service to people whose lives are affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) through effective communication and liaison with all sections of the community and other stakeholders. To develop good multidisciplinary teamworking with local services and stakeholders. To be a resource to the EB community and DEBRA team on the area of special interest: Scottish specific services, health, and social care

Key Responsibilities

Community Support / Case load management

- Provide person-centred community support within DEBRA’s remit, including education, employment, housing and benefits
- Support the EB community through information, advocacy, liaison and signposting.
- Engage with the EB community to understand needs and promote DEBRA support and membership services.
- Refer to relevant professionals or agencies, advocating where needed to ensure members feel supported.
- Contribute to service planning, policy development and improvements for the EB community.
- Assess referred members’ needs and prioritise support accordingly.
- Assess, access and manage DEBRA support grants and individual budgets.
- Grow DEBRA membership among people living with EB and health professionals.

Communication and partnership working

- Build effective relationships with the EB community, statutory agencies and key stakeholders.
- Work with individuals, families and carers to assess, plan and deliver support.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to support members effectively.

Advocacy

- Advocate for independent living, including tribunals, housing assessments and self-advocacy.
- Support access to education, employment and leisure opportunities.
- Help the EB community connect through membership activities, events and informal networks.
- Support members to express their needs, explore options and understand their rights.

Development

- Involve the EB community in shaping services that meet their needs.
- Help the EB community influence national service provision.
- Develop and promote resources, events and online information.

Professional conduct
- Maintain accurate, confidential records using DEBRA’s CRM and relevant policies.
- Record activity as required
- Take part in relevant training, networking, conferences and publications.
- Represent the Community Support team with members and external audiences.
- Work collaboratively within the team and wider organisation.
- Keep up to date with social policy, specialist practice, legislation and DEBRA procedures.
- Support DEBRA member events and wider team initiatives as required.
