The role:
We are currently seeking to recruit four part-time Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join the Outpatient Service. Outpatients is a dynamic and diverse environment that plays an important role in the delivery of patient care across the South Sector.
The post holder will work within the nursing and multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care is delivered across a wide range of specialities, including ENT, Dermatology, Medical, Oncology, Surgical, Renal and Urology. The role involves supporting both consultant and nurse-led clinics while contributing to the effective running of the service.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a part-time post within the Outpatient Service in the South Sector. There is a requirement to work flexibly to meet service needs, and the post holder may be required to work across multiple sites within the South Sector.

The shift pattern will vary and may consist of short shifts of approximately 4 to 4.25 hours scheduled Monday to Friday, worked either in the morning or the afternoon. Alternatively, shifts may be arranged as two full working days combined with two half days of approximately 3.5 hours, which may also be worked in the morning or afternoon.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key responsibilities:
Provide support to the nursing and multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and high quality patient care within outpatient clinics. Carry out technical and clinical support tasks including assisting with procedures, undertaking patient observations, supporting clinic management using TrakCare, chaperoning patients and contributing to housekeeping and ordering processes.
Undertake clinical tasks such as venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, bladder scanning and pregnancy testing while accurately recording and reporting patient observations including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and temperature. Monitor and report changes in patients’ physical and psychological condition and support patient flow within clinic areas and the ambulance waiting area.
Contribute to audits and support the ongoing development and improvement of the outpatient service while maintaining accurate electronic patient records.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
