Volunteer Befriender & Support Companion Needed (Glasgow)
Make a real difference to a local family caring for vulnerable adult.
We are looking for reliable and compassionate volunteers to provide companionship and practical support to vulnerable adult living at home. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, listening, and building meaningful relationships within their community.
What You Could Help With
- Companionship visits
- Friendly conversation and social interaction
- Light activities, giving water, helping with TV and mobile phone use.
- Helping reduce loneliness and isolation
- Providing a few hours of respite for the primary family carer
About the Situation
The household supports an aduult with significant health and care needs. The primary carer provides extensive care throughout the week, including overnight support, and has very limited opportunities for rest, work, training, or social activities.
Your time could help:
- Improve wellbeing and social inclusion for vulnerable adult
- Reduce carer stress and isolation
- Allow the primary carer to attend appointments, work commitments, training, or simply take a short break
Volunteer Requirements
- Kind, patient, and trustworthy
- Good communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Respectful of privacy and dignity
- Previous volunteering or care experience is welcome but not essential
