The role:

We are seeking a dedicated Health Care Support Worker (Band 3) to join our Outpatient and Pre-Operative Assessment team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care while supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Glasgow Royal Infirmary
08:00 to 16:00 shift pattern
Part-time, permanent
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality patient care in support of Registered Nurses within the Outpatient and Pre-Operative Assessment service
Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort and wellbeing
Record and report patient observations accurately, maintaining clear and up-to-date patient records
Recognise and report changes in a patient's condition to senior nursing staff promptly and appropriately
Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
Support the effective management of resources, equipment and clinical supplies within the department
Develop positive relationships with patients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members to enhance the patient experience

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Completed NICHE programme or hold SVQ Level 3 in a relevant healthcare discipline
Previous experience working within an outpatient or healthcare environment
Caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach to delivering care
Ability to prioritise workload effectively and work independently when required
Strong verbal and written communication skills together with good literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical setting
Confidence using clinical systems, maintaining accurate records and handling information confidentially
