The role:

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our innovative Hospital at Home (H@H) service within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to patients in the comfort of their own homes while being part of a supportive, forward-thinking community nursing team. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, contributing directly to admission avoidance and early supported discharge. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Fixed Term, Part Time
Location: Borron Street, Glasgow
Shift Pattern: Between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday, with no 12-hour shifts required

Key responsibilities:

Deliver hands-on personal care, including hygiene, toileting, and support with daily living activities
Undertake delegated clinical tasks such as observations, simple dressings, specimen collection, and eye care
Support patients with complex care needs within their home environment
Recognise changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly to registered staff
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
Assist with stock control, equipment use, and general support of the nursing team
Build compassionate relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards this
Experience of delivering care in a health or social care setting
Ability to work independently and confidently as a lone worker
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across a wide geographical area
Understanding of patient confidentiality, safety procedures, and professional boundaries
Ability to respond calmly in challenging or emergencies and follow clinical guidance
