Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Pastry Chef who will play a vital role in supporting our catering operations, ensuring high standards of food presentation, safety, and customer service.

Our ideal candidate loves crafting desserts and baking, has a passion for their craft and training in culinary arts as well as making gluten free baked products.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality industry and contribute to memorable dining experiences. Our Pastry Chef will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, creating new menu items, and maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the catering environment.

Please note: salary will vary depending on age and experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and presentation to meet quality standards
Cooking and creating dishes in kitchen
Ensuring quality of food items
Support in setting up and clearing catering areas before and after events
Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
Assist with delivery duties, including loading, unloading, and transporting supplies or equipment as needed
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and service areas throughout shifts
Support with stock replenishment and inventory checks
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operation of catering services

Skills

Minimum of 3 years experience in cooking roles in commercial kitchens
Knowledge and qualifications of food safety standards and practices
Formal training in cooking, meal preparation, and culinary arts is advantageous
Background in hotel, barista, or kitchen work can be beneficial
Looking for someone who is great at learning new recipes and creating high quality products such as dips, spreads, sauces etc from scratch
Background in catering is beneficial
Someone with a strong understanding of Middle Eastern or Asian or another non-European cuisine
Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and team members
Ability to provide excellent guest services and maintain professional phone etiquette
Organised with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure
A proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
Having your own car and being based local to East Kilbride is a big advantage
