SPECIFICATION TECHNOLOGIST
Cumbernauld, Glasgow
At OV Group, we are passionate about creating custom ingredients and decorations that add a little extra magic to confectionery, ice cream, and bakery products around the world.
Whether it is a touch of indulgence or a burst of creativity, we work hand-in-hand with our customers to craft inspiring solutions that truly stand out. With seven sites across Europe, we are proud to serve both local legends and global giants in the food industry.
This role will be based at Cake Décor, our site in Cumbernauld; the largest manufacturer of edible cake decorations and toppings in the UK, producing an extensive range for leading Grocery retailers, food manufacturers and specialist artisan bakers.
Reporting into the Technical Manager, the Specifications Technologist plays a key role in ensuring that designated critical path stages between concept handover and product launches are achieved. Working closely with the NPD team, you’ll support effective factory trials for customer and internal requirements, ensuring all relevant documentation is ready for product launches; checking artwork and packaging against agreed pack copy, legal/company requirements, and ingredient specifications; reporting any non-compliances and closing these out.
You will also be involved in creating and maintaining database systems to manage allergen and nutritional information; raw material and packaging specifications and associated accreditation, and supplier approval documentation; as well as ensuring all necessary internal and external documentation is completed to specification, on time and to the highest standard.
With previous experience ideally gained within a food manufacturing environment, you will have a good understanding of HACCP and be familiar working with the UK grocery retailer systems. With excellent IT skills, you’ll be confident and articulate, capable of building strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Well organised, able to manage a number of tasks and projects simultaneously; you’ll be self-motivated, enjoy a challenge, and be able to deliver under pressure.
When you join our team, you will become part of a supportive and forward-thinking environment. We offer opportunities for professional development and career progression, a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as modern facilities and a positive workplace atmosphere.
