About the Role

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner / Early Years Practitioner to join Olivewood Nursery, a new term-time nursery provision in Glasgow for children aged 3–5 years.

You will help create a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring learning environment, supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing through play, positive relationships and meaningful experiences.

Our approach combines Scottish Early Years practice with a bilingual Arabic and English environment, cultural understanding and Montessori-inspired learning.

Key Responsibilities

· Support high-quality, play-based learning experiences for children aged 3–5 years.

· Promote children’s wellbeing, safety, independence and confidence.

· Observe and support children’s learning and development.

· Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.

· Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and nursery policies.

Essential Criteria

· Hold, or be working towards, an SSSC-recognised qualification for Practitioner registration.

· Registered with the SSSC, or willing and eligible to register within the required timescale.

· Working knowledge of Arabic, or a willingness to learn and use Arabic to support the bilingual nursery environment.

· Good understanding of child development, play-based learning, safeguarding and child protection.

· Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team.

· Kind, patient, professional and committed to equality, inclusion and children’s rights.

Desirable Criteria

· Previous Early Learning and Childcare experience.

· Knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition, GIRFEC or Health and Social Care Standards.

· Knowledge of Montessori principles, bilingual learning or Arabic language, culture and heritage.

· Experience supporting children with Additional Support Needs (ASN).

· Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene or Child Protection training.
