About the role

Shape the Future of Efficiencies Across Scotland's Railway - Join Network Rail as a Senior Finance Business Partner!

Are you ready to drive real change, unlock efficiencies and influence strategic decision-making at scale?

At Network Rail , our finance team plays a critical role in delivering a safe, reliable and efficient railway, managing around £1 billion in annual expenditure . Our Glasgow-based finance team -a close-knit group of around 50 professionals-is at the heart of this mission.

As a Senior Finance Business Partner - Business Improvement , you'll work at the heart of the organisation-identifying opportunities, building robust business cases and ensuring benefits are delivered.

This is more than a finance role-it's an opportunity to lead improvement, shape strategy, and deliver real impact .

¿ What You'll Do:

Lead end-to-end business case development from concept to delivery
Identify and deliver efficiencies and cost improvement opportunities
Build robust, insight-led business cases aligned to strategy, value and risk
Track and ensure benefits are realized and sustained
Challenge and support stakeholders to drive smarter decisions
Help embed a centre of excellence with strong governance and consistency
Shape future efficiency strategy, including development of our five-year business plan

Your experience and skills

Essential skills and experience:

Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW) or equivalent experience
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels. This should include Customers; 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.
Successful relevant experience working in a complex financial environment including demonstrable experience in managing business risks, professional financial control and forward planning.
Demonstrable record of budget management, governance and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
Significant experience in managing ambiguity in a financial environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills
Excellent technical Financial and Accounting knowledge and application of that knowledge in a complex and commercial environment
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, for example accounting and finance, business management or equivalent demonstrable experience in finance

Desirable skills and experience:

Full membership of relevant post graduate professional body (CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW)
Experience of Oracle based systems
Substantial experience within multiple finance disciplines
Knowledge and technical expertise of Government accounting and relevant financial governance
Understanding of project management principles and experience of managing complex projects to successful conclusion.
