The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Fabricator / Senior Plater to join our growing team in Burnhouse. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of challenging fabrication projects and help set the standard for quality across the workshop.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reading and working from engineering drawings and fabrication specifications
- Cutting, shaping, and fitting structural and plate steel to tight tolerances
- Carrying out advanced fabrication and welding processes (MIG, TIG, flux-core, etc.)
- Overseeing and mentoring junior fabricators and apprentices, sharing skills and knowledge
- Ensuring work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards
- Supporting continuous improvement across the workshop and contributing to team problem-solving
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in fabrication and plating, ideally in heavy or structural steelwork
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent welding and fabrication skills with attention to accuracy and detail
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to take the lead on jobs and support colleagues
- A commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
- Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage
- Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications or willingness to obtain them
