Full job description

Job Overview
As a Class 2 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of building materials using a Category C Licence. This role requires strong driving and commercial driving skills.

Duties

Driving: Safely operating an HGV Class 2 vehicle within legal limits and adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
Delivery Planning: Planning routes, schedules, and making adjustments based on traffic and other factors.
Vehicle Maintenance: Conducting daily vehicle checks, reporting any issues, and ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy.
Loading and Unloading: Assisting with or supervising the safe loading and securing of goods, ensuring they are transported without damage. Forklift experience is advantageous.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, trips, and driving hours.
Communication: Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service during deliveries and handling any issues that may arise.

Additional Responsibilities:

Physically fit as will involve lifting and carrying goods.
Needs to be aware of current traffic reports and adapt routes accordingly.
Must be able to work independently and manage time effectively.

Qualifications

Valid Category C Licence. Hiab experience preferable but can be learnt on job.
New starters Class 2 HGV Driver welcome but must be over the age of 25 due to insurance restrictions
Previous delivery driver experience in the local Gloucester area is advantageous
Ability to follow safety regulations and road laws
Good communication skills and customer service orientation
