Worcester Golf & Country Club is a traditional parkland golf course. This Dr Alister MacKenzie designed golf course has recently undergone a significant investment in a “State of the Art” irrigation system and the Club now wants to build on the benefit this can deliver to all areas of the estate, which also includes three grass tennis courts.
The successful candidate will join a forward thinking, friendly and aspirational Club that has been established for over 100 years and is considered to have one the finest courses in the region. They must be capable of working within a greenkeeping team that is committed to presenting a course that exceeds the expectations of members, visitors and guests. They will need to demonstrate a professional and modern approach to green keeping, and in addition to being experienced, hardworking, reliable and highly motivated.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Course Manager, the successful applicant(s) will be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance and presentation. The role of greenkeeper requires proactive individuals who are hardworking, have a flexible approach to working hours, an eye for detail and have a passion for what they do. Ideally, we are looking to recruit on a permanent full time (37.5 hours per week) basis but will consider applications on a part time basis.
Job Functions:
· Cutting all playing surfaces, change holes, setting up golf course for play, preparing bunkers, any spraying that is required; ensuring that the course is presented in the best possible condition.
· Construction, aeration and turfing works.
· Understand the Clubs policies in relation to health and safety and ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to health & safety practices.
· Able to safely operate a wide range of golf course machinery.
· Undertake specific training on machinery and other working practices.
Personal Specifications and Qualities:
· Knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of golf courses.
· Knowledge of the care and maintenance of grass greens.
· Knowledge of the uses and operating methods of the equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.
· Knowledge of turf diseases and the methods and chemicals used to control them.
· Ability to keep records.
· Ability to problem solve and identify solutions.
· Possess good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
It would be an advantage but not essential to have:
- NPTC Chainsaw license
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Good understanding of golf, the rules of the game and golfer requirements
- A minimum of Level 2 greenkeeping qualification
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
