Full job description

Castle Surgery is a busy, friendly practice with over 9,000 registered patients. We are looking for additional enthusiastic person to join our team in providing excellent patient care and support to our clinical teams.

Please note that the Practice does not allow members of staff to be patients and you will have to register with a different practice if successful. Please apply as soon as possible as the vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if sufficient suitable applications are received.

A DBS application will be required for this position.

Experience and Skills
This job role is mainly telephone based, and candidates should have a good telephone and reception manner, be able to use a computer and have good keyboard skills. Previous employment in a medical or clinic reception would be an advantage.

Being aware of the rules of patient confidentiality is essential for this post. School leavers (17+) and mature people encouraged to apply for position.

Principal Duties

Receiving patients and booking appointments at the Reception Desk.
Monitoring the waiting room and guiding patients to rooms.
Dealing with queries from patients asking for repeat prescriptions.
Sorting prescriptions into alphabetical order ready for collection by patients.
Making appointments by telephone, handling requests for home visits and taking messages.
Dealing with queries from patients asking for repeat or acute prescriptions.
Processing patients’ change of address and have knowledge of the Practice area.
When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is secured, alarm activated and that all electrical equipment is switched off.
Reception staff should be able to use general office equipment such as photocopier, fax and franking machine.

Induction and Training
Will be provided.
