Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Operative to join our busy logistics team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the efficient handling of materials, ensuring smooth operations within the warehouse environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic and supportive organisation, with responsibilities spanning from stock management to shipping and receiving. Prior warehouse experience is preferred, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Duties

Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading goods from lorries and containers
Operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery (training provided)
Managing stock levels using a warehouse management system (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory records
Picking and packing orders accurately to meet customer requirements
Organising stock storage areas, ensuring items are properly stocked and accessible
Conducting quality control checks to maintain high standards of product integrity
Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and labelling
Performing routine mechanical checks on equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations

Experience

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
Familiarity with materials handling techniques and warehouse management systems is desirable
Experience operating forklifts or other mechanical handling equipment is a plus (certification preferred)
Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, picking & packing, and stock management is beneficial
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift
Mechanical knowledge or understanding of warehouse equipment will be considered an asset
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks
