Job Overview

Carnon Downs Surgery is restructuring our nursing team following the departure of our lead nurse. We are welcoming applications from individuals with experience and skills in long term condition management, particularly Diabetes and Chronic Heart Disease. As we are losing the leadership element of our team we would also be looking for candidates who have either management experience or the capability to develop into this role. We would consider either a full-time replacement or a combination of two part time roles to cover the key responsibilities required with one taking the leadership element.

Responsibilities

We are looking for the right candidate(s) to deliver a range of nursing and leadership responsibilities including long term condition management and the full range of general practice treatment room skills. Ideally the post holder will also be skilled in Cytology.

Long term condition management (Particularly Diabetes)
Cytology
Treatment room skills (including wound management)
Vaccinations, including travel and baby imms
INR/Warfarin management
Contraception advice and review
Staff management and appraisal
Supervision of students
Management of infection, prevention and control

Person Specification

Essential

Proven experience working as a registered nurse within a primary care or similar healthcare setting
Long term condition management, particularly Diabetes

Desirable

Wound care and treatment room skills
Cytology
Baby Imms
Travel vaccinations (desired but not essential)
INR/Warfarin monitoring.
Contraception advice and reviews
Leadership
