Job Title: Senior Legal Assistant & Team Leader
Hours of Work: 09.00 – 17.15 hrs – Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week).

The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Assistant and Team Leader to join our Document Production Team, based in our Spalding office.
We are seeking an individual who holds relevant secretarial qualifications or equivalent professional experience. Previous experience in supervising or managing others would be advantageous.
The role will involve supporting our Private Client and Residential Conveyancing teams, including handling initial client enquiries confidently and professionally. The successful candidate will need to ensure they remain up to date with matters within their areas of responsibility.
In addition to client-facing duties, the role will involve team leadership responsibilities, including overseeing Receptionists, Senior Legal Assistants, and Legal Support Assistant within the office. Responsibilities will include conducting reviews, monitoring and allocating work, and providing ongoing support and mentoring to both new and existing members of the Document Production team.
The successful candidate will also be expected to support the Partner in Charge with the day‑to‑day management of the office.
Key Duties:
- To perform all necessary typing/word-processing, accurately and to deadline.
- Transcribe information from manual documents or audio recordings as required.
- Line manage Senior Legal Assistants, Legal Support Assistants, and Reception staff.
- Monitor, allocate, and oversee workloads within the Document Production Team.
- Support and monitor team performance, including providing guidance and mentoring to team members.
- Provide support across all areas of the business, including assisting other offices when required.
- Handle telephone calls on behalf of fee earners, taking and relaying messages promptly and accurately.
- Arrange appointments as required.
- Ensure work is kept up to date, prioritising tasks based on urgency and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is correctly recorded on the file management system.
- Maintain high levels of client and company confidentiality at all times.
- Work flexibly as part of a collaborative team, providing cover for other Senior Legal Assistants when required.
- Provide Reception cover as and when required.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Secretarial qualification or equivalent work‑based experience.
- Experience of working in a law firm.
- High level of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within Private Client and/or Residential Conveyancing.
- Previous experience of managing others.
- Competent in using case management systems.
- Clear understanding of confidentially/Data Protection.
- Typing speed of at least 50 WPM.
