Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Payroll Administrator to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely salary payments, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background using accounting software, and data entry to contribute to the smooth operation of our organisation’s payroll functions. Knowledge and experience of RTI, FPS, SSP, SMP, SPP

Responsibilities

· Administer payroll within agreed timescales

· Act as first point of contact for payroll queries.

· Maintain payroll records.

· Generate P60’s and end of year P11’s

· Produce monthly reports

· Process pension contributions, auto enrolment and upload pension data

· Submit RTI filings

· Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations, Payroll legislation and pension requirements

· Monitor sickness absence triggers.

· Monitor training compliance.

· Maintain digital staff records.

· Assist with basic HR tracking.

· Support routine HR administration.

· Track policy review schedules.

· Support general office processes, filing, and correspondence.

General level of education to GCSE or equivalent, including English and Maths at grade C or equivalent

NVQ Level 2 in business administration

Skills, knowledge and experience

Data Protection

Minimum 2 years’ experience as A Payroll officer

Experience of working in a Care Home environment

IT skills – Competent in all MS Office applications

Highly competent

Customer service skills - experience of working in a customer-facing environment

Understanding of payroll legislation, RTI and auto-enrolment.

Familiar with Bright Pay

Familiar with Xero

Awareness of and commitment to the principles of the Equality Act 2010

Understanding of the requirements of the Data Protection Act, especially as it relates to staff records

Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written; good listening skills

Discrete and respects confidentiality at all times

Excellent organisational and administrative skills
