We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to take ownership of warehouse operations during their allocated shift, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently and in line with business priorities.
This role acts as the senior on site lead in the absence of the Warehouse Manager and is key to translating daily plans into action across Goods In, Despatch, Returns and Stock Management. You will lead from the front, support and motivate supervisors and operatives, and keep the operation performing at pace, especially during peak periods.
Our operating shifts vary between morning or back shifts between the hours of 6am and 10pm (start and finish times may vary slightly).
Duties & responsibilities of a Warehouse Shift Manager are…
- Full accountability for warehouse operations during your shift, acting as the escalation point for operational, people and system issues
- Leading, motivating and supporting Warehouse Supervisors and Operatives to maintain strong standards, productivity and engagement
- Managing shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of priorities, risks and performance
- Overseeing Goods In, Despatch, Returns and Stock Control to meet SLAs and service expectations
- Planning and deploying labour effectively, adjusting in real time to meet demand
- Monitoring productivity, accuracy and performance using WMS data and reports
- Addressing underperformance through coaching, reallocation of labour or escalation where required
- Acting as the responsible person for health and safety on shift, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and warehouse presentation
- Supporting people management, training, onboarding and day to day team communication

This role is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) in a fast-paced warehouse environment, operating on a flexible rota. 8 hour shifts vary daily and on rotation between morning and afternoon. Occasional overtime is required at weekends in peak trading weeks.
