Transport Planner / Coordinator
Location: Nottingham NG14
Salary: £27,000 – £28,500 DOE + performance bonuses (up to £10,000 annually)

Our growing operation includes a fleet of 10 vehicles and a trusted network of 50+ subcontractors, allowing us to provide nationwide coverage for our customers every day.
As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dynamic, ambitious, and target-driven Transport Planner/Coordinator to join our small yet highly successful team. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys problem-solving, and has the confidence to make quick decisions.
A major part of the role involves using platforms such as Haulage Exchange to source and bid on return loads, helping maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty miles. Speed, enthusiasm, and strong communication skills are essential to succeed in this position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing drivers daily via phone, WhatsApp, and GPS vehicle tracking systems
- Coordinating collections and deliveries across the UK
- Monitoring vehicle utilisation, costs per mile, and margins to maximise efficiency
- Using freight exchange platforms to bid competitively on jobs
- Building strong relationships with customers and drivers
- Handling delivery issues and resolving problems quickly and professionally
- Ensuring a positive and supportive working atmosphere within the team
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within the transport, logistics, or haulage sector
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-moving environment
- Good knowledge of the UK road network and UK postcodes
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Flexible, proactive, and able to think on your feet
- A positive attitude and team-focused approach
A Typical Day
This is a highly communication-focused role, with over 90% of your day spent on the phone speaking with customers and drivers.
You will:
- Support drivers with route, delivery, and operational challenges
- Take bookings and confirm transport details with customers
- Provide updates and resolve any service issues
- Bid for transport jobs and compete effectively within the marketplace
