Location: Hybrid, 3 days from home and 2 days from our beautiful Gourock office
- Contract: Permanent, full time Monday – Friday
- Salary: Circa £70k depending on skills and experience
We’re looking for an experienced Agile Business Analyst to join our IT Product & Services team at a time of significant change, investment and transformation across CalMac. With the award of the CHFS3 contract for the next 10 years, we are entering an exciting new chapter within our Technology Team.
The Agile Project Manager Role
This is a high impact role where you’ll help shape customer focused, operationally effective solutions by translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements. Working within Agile teams, you’ll collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders from technical teams to ferry communities, ensuring we deliver meaningful improvements to both customer and operational experiences and support us in the evolution of our digital platforms, contributing to the delivery of our AI strategy.
Some of the other key responsibilities will be:

Partnering with product, delivery, and technical teams to plan and prioritise business analysis activities
- Gathering, analysing, and documenting business and technical requirements using a range of techniques
- Translating complex needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows and acting as the bridge between stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure clarity and shared understanding
- Supporting AI product discovery, identifying high-value use cases and helping shape the delivery roadmap
- Designing intelligent, hybrid workflows that integrate AI and operational processes
- Collaborating with UX/UI teams to ensure user needs are reflected in intuitive, customer-focused designs
- Supporting backlog refinement, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
- Contributing to testing, including defining scenarios and supporting user acceptance testing
- Managing evolving requirements and ensuring traceability to business objectives
About you
You’ll also need to have:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or the equivalent in experience).
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Software Architect or System Analyst from within digital or software delivery environments (client side/consultants or Technology provider)
- Strong understanding and practical application of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practises working within cross-functional internal and external teams.
- Advanced knowledge of user story creation and management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps)
- Strong skills in requirements elicitation, documentation, and process modelling, combined with an understanding of system integrations, APIs, and data flows.
- Demonstrable ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business language.
- A proven track record of delivering complex digital or platform-based projects
- Experience working on AI initiatives or data-driven products (highly desirable)
- Background in booking, reservation, or transactional platforms (advantageous)
