We adopt an ‘anonymous recruitment’ approach to shortlisting. Recruiting managers will not have access to personal information, including your name and contact details, until a shortlisting decision has been made.
We are committed to recruiting, retaining, and developing a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Sharing your equality monitoring data allows us to assess the impact our recruitment and employment policies and practices have and gives us the opportunity to improve them where possible. Equality monitoring information is not accessible by recruiting managers at any stage.

This is a role for an experienced Health & Safety professional who understands the risks associated with different occupational roles and functions.
You will not be office-based. You will be out in services, building relationships, observing practice, challenging appropriately, and providing clear, expert guidance and advice that improves H&S standards.
The Role
Provide competent, practical advice across a wide range of occupational groups
Support and constructively challenge managers to improve H&S performance
Translate legislation into proportionate, workable solutions

About You
You will bring:
Demonstrable H&S advisory experience in varied and complex environments
The ability to confidently scale your knowledge across different risk profiles
Strong professional credibility and sound judgement
The confidence to hold difficult conversations and influence senior stakeholders
A proactive work ethic — someone who takes ownership and follows through
A modern, balanced approach to health & safety focused on sensible risk management, culture and continuous improvement
A NEBOSH qualification is essential — but experience, judgement and professional presence are what will set you apart.

Excellent local authority pension
Flexible working arrangements
Ongoing CPD and professional development
The opportunity to genuinely influence standards across a large organisation
If you’re ready to step into a visible, challenging and rewarding advisory role where your expertise will be tested — and valued — we’d like to hear from you.
