Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in assisted living and care home environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors, including those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive environment where your communication skills and creativity can make a real difference to residents' wellbeing.

Duties

Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
Foster social interaction and engagement among residents through group activities, individual sessions, and special events.
Assess residents’ preferences and capabilities to develop personalised activity programmes.
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and safety protocols.
Maintain accurate records of participation and residents’ responses to activities.
Encourage residents’ independence and promote positive mental health through stimulating programmes.
Support the emotional wellbeing of residents by providing companionship during activities.
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety guidelines, particularly when working with vulnerable adults.

Experience

Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing home, or care home settings is highly desirable.
Knowledge of senior care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, is advantageous.
Proven caregiving or activity coordination experience within a senior or specialised care environment is preferred.
Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging effectively with residents, families, and team members.
Experience organising diverse recreational programmes that cater to varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability will be beneficial.
A compassionate approach combined with organisational skills will support the delivery of high-quality activities that enhance residents’ quality of life.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
