Job Title

HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician

Location

Near Purfleet/West Thurrock

Salary

Up to £58,500 per annum (depending on experience & qualifications)

Shift Pattern

Rotating shifts: Days only or Days & Lates

(Exact hours to be confirmed)

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our workshop team based near Grays. You’ll be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of a fleet of HGVs, ensuring vehicles are safe, roadworthy and compliant with DVSA standards.

This role suits someone who is hands-on, safety-focused, and comfortable working rotating day and late shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
Complete MOT preparation and inspections to DVSA standards
Respond to vehicle defects and breakdowns as required
Accurately complete job cards and maintenance records
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company and legal requirements
Work collaboratively with the wider workshop and transport teams

Requirements

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician
Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent)
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Knowledge of DVSA standards and compliance
Ability to work rotating day and late shifts
Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
Reliable, organised and safety-conscious
