Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Roadside Service Technician and Recovery specialist to join our team. This role involves providing prompt assistance to stranded motorists, performing recovery operations, and ensuring safety on the roads. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience in driving various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries. Duties
- Respond swiftly to roadside assistance calls to aid motorists with breakdowns or accidents.
- Operate a range of commercial vehicles, including flatbed lorries, ensuring safe loading and unloading of recovered vehicles or equipment.
- Conduct basic mechanical assessments to identify issues and determine appropriate recovery procedures.
- Utilise specialised recovery equipment to tow or recover vehicles from accident scenes or breakdown locations.
- Maintain detailed records of all service calls, recoveries, and vehicle inspections.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch teams, and emergency services to coordinate rescue operations.
- Ensure all recovery activities comply with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Assist with warehouse duties as required, including inventory management and vehicle maintenance checks.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driving licence with a clean driving record; experience as a driver is essential.
- Proven experience in driving delivery vehicles or similar commercial transport roles.
- Mechanical knowledge or previous experience working in a workshop or warehouse environment is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Experience operating flatbed lorries or similar specialised recovery vehicles is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure in potentially challenging roadside conditions.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends if necessary.
- Physical fitness to handle lifting and manoeuvring heavy equipment or vehicle parts safely.
