About Audiebant
Audiebant is an innovative technology company providing cutting-edge audio and notification solutions for schools and businesses. Our platform integrates real-time alerts, player management, cloud APIs, and IoT button-triggered events.
The Role
This is very much a learning role. You’ll work alongside our experienced Linux engineering team, supporting the day-to-day running of an established and highly scalable Linux estate — cloud servers plus tens of thousands of bare-metal edge devices powering critical emergency systems — and steadily taking on more responsibility as your skills and confidence grow. We don’t expect you to know everything; we’re far more interested in your enthusiasm, your willingness to learn and your attitude towards doing things properly. If you’re keen, curious and genuinely interested in Linux and infrastructure, we’ll give you the environment, mentoring and structure to thrive.
What You'll Be Doing (and Learning)
- Working closely with our Linux engineering team, learning how we run and secure a large-scale Linux estate.
- Helping with the day-to-day administration of Linux cloud servers and bare-metal edge devices, with guidance and support.
- Building your all-round Linux skills, learning to be comfortable across any distribution (our estate runs primarily on Ubuntu).
- Learning to write Bash / Shell scripts to automate routine tasks.
- Getting hands-on with security fundamentals — patching, monitoring for vulnerabilities and good security practice.
- Supporting basic network configuration and troubleshooting (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls) as you learn.
- Getting exposure to modern infrastructure tooling — Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform), containers (Docker / Podman) and automation.
- A first look at CI/CD (GitHub Actions), MQTT and certificate-based device security — with full support to learn as you go.
- Helping to keep documentation clear and up to date, in line with our ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Asking questions, getting stuck in, and steadily taking on more as you grow.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine enthusiasm for Linux and a real willingness to learn — this matters more to us than years of experience.
- Some foundational Linux knowledge, whether from study, personal projects, home labs, an apprenticeship or early work experience.
- An interest in security and in doing things the right way.
- A positive, can-do attitude and the confidence to ask questions.
- Basic scripting awareness (Bash / Shell) is a plus, but you’ll be supported to develop this.
- A willingness to learn modern infrastructure tooling — IaC (Ansible / Terraform), containers (Docker / Podman), MQTT and certificate/PKI basics — no prior experience needed.
- Any exposure to PHP or Go is a nice to have, but absolutely not expected.
- Good problem-solving instincts and a methodical approach.
- Clear communication and a desire to work as part of a close-knit team.
- Any relevant certifications or studies — such as CompTIA Linux+, LPIC-1 or similar — are a bonus, and we’ll actively support you in working towards them.
What We Offer
- Structured, hands-on learning directly from our experienced Linux engineering team.
- Mentoring and a clear path to develop into a full Linux Infrastructure Engineer role.
- Real responsibility on a meaningful, large-scale platform — not just training exercises.
- 20 days’ annual leave + bank holidays.
- Free onsite parking.
- The chance to start your career at a fast-growing company focused on career development, working on technology that genuinely matters — edge systems that people rely on in emergencies.
