The Role

Working closely with, and reporting to the Indoor Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision of the indoor team to deliver exceptional standards and outstanding customer service. You will be responsible to deliver the highest standards and meticulous care in displays, product and plant quality. Building on The Plant Places outstanding dynamic and inventive style. Enhancing our reputation for exceptional beautifully, clean and health presentations in our aspirational environment, encouraging customer loyalty and satisfaction.
The responsibilities include
- Managing and leading the Inside team, overseeing tasks are performed in a timely manner, with the overall objective of delivering a memorable customer experience.
- Demonstrate and training all team members in the Plant Place culture of "People first".
- Making sure all the team are delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding customer expectation.
- Anticipate and identify customer needs, listen and feedback to colleagues and managers.
- Sharing plant knowledge and selling skills with your team to optimise their capabilities.
- Provide excellent customer knowledge and service in houseplants, gardening goods and gifts.
- Ensure our seasonal displays maintain their industry leading reputation like our Christmas displays.
- Displaying a positive leadership style with an enthusiastic, committed and flexible attitude.
- Assisting with planning and supervising staff resources for daily running of the area i.e. overseeing rotas, holidays, input in recruitment.
- Demonstrating a sound product knowledge of plants and products ensuring the products are healthy and creatively displayed to engage our customers. Maintain stock levels at its optimum for sale.
- Constantly reviewing with the Indoor Manager Leader/Merchandising, and Sales and Marketing teams to be able to adjust the look and feel of the retail area. Rotate displays and fixtures with meticulous detail in terms of product placement. Ensuring fresh and inspiring displays and seasonal offers.
- Maintaining a high profile and contact with customers on the shop floor helping to build and maintain customer confidence. Look to link/upsell with other products to enhance the final look for the customer.
- Working with the Inside Manager to assist with the monitoring of the retail area in terms of sales and profits on an ongoing basis to maintain high levels of merchandising.
- Assisting in the tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of product ranges and marketing activities as required to ensure a high effect stock management from entry to exit.
- Answer the phone and deal with customers' requirements.
- Follow all cash handling procedures and prepare the floats and cash up at the end of day.
- Ensure the till operation is at its maximum efficiently.
- Ensuring the inside area is clean and tidy at all times and ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed.
- Support other departments within the business as required.
- Promote our Loyalty scheme.
- Duty management responsibilities of the garden centre .
- Any other reasonable request.
About You
- You will have proven leadership experience.
- You will have a sense of ownership and empowerment.
- You will be experienced in working in a fast paced environment.
- You will have the ability to provide excellent customer service by using strong communication.
- You will have a great judgement with exceptional problem solving skills.
- You will have a positive attitude with the ability to inspire your team and lead by example to develop the team.
- You will be physically fit to be able to be on your feet and moving stock.
- You will be flexible with working hours due to the nature of the business.
Desirable Criteria
- Good plant knowledge
- A good retail knowledge and commercial awareness
- To be able to use EPOS system
- Compliance with a good knowledge of all regulations and legislation including: Fire, H&S,
- Be First Aid qualified if required
Working Hours
8.00am to 3.00pm or 11.00am to 6.00pm (or until duties are completed)
6 days week one and 4 days week two, or pro rata. Weekend work required on a rota basis.
Including occasional evening events in the future.
