Let's Talk about the Role
The Senior Project Manager leads the delivery of complex, integrated engineering systems for external customers — driving performance, managing risk, and ensuring every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
You will take ownership of either a major project or a portfolio of projects, working with some of the world's leading energy, maritime, and industrial organisations. From contract handover through to final customer acceptance, you are the driving force behind successful delivery — coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, finance, supply chain, planning, field service, and contract management, while maintaining strong and trusted relationships with your customers throughout.
How You Will Make a Difference
- Leading the contract execution and delivery of complex, customised engineering projects — including power conversion systems, battery energy storage systems, rotating stabilisers, switchgear, control and automation, and associated balance of plant equipment
- Building strong, collaborative relationships with external customers, acting as the primary point of contact and championing a culture of high customer satisfaction
- Driving project performance by monitoring progress against baseline plans, managing change and risk, controlling costs, and delivering accurate forecasts and reports
- Coordinating and influencing multi-disciplinary teams across a matrix organisation, working closely with lead engineers, supply chain partners, and internal and external stakeholders
- Owning project financial performance — tracking budgets, managing contract obligations, and identifying and realising opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
- Championing lean principles and continuous improvement within the project management environment, actively supporting GE Vernova's lean transformation
Special Role Requirements
- Ability to travel on an occasional or short-term basis to customer, supplier, or project site locations within the UK or overseas as required
- Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, UK Security Clearance to at least Basic level
- Full UK driving licence
Skills for Success
You should be comfortable operating in a technical engineering environment and working closely with engineering teams on complex mechanical, electrical, power or industrial systems.
You should be a commercially aware, people-focused project management professional with substantive experience delivering complex engineering projects in a commercial contracting environment, with:
- Substantive experience delivering integrated engineering projects — such as mechanical and electrical systems, power systems, or industrial systems — for external customers in a commercial contracting setting
- Proven capability in managing external customer relationships and delivering projects with a consistent focus on quality and customer satisfaction
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix organisation, coordinating across engineering, commercial, and operational functions
- Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to manage project costs, change control, risk, contract obligations, and financial forecasting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project, with the confidence to use project management tools to drive visibility and control
- A commitment to structured, best-practice project management throughout the full project lifecycle
A formal education and subsequent University Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering or scientific field, or equivalent relevant experience, would be beneficial. Recognised project management training or certification is also advantageous, although we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience in an industrial power systems domain — for example, rotating machinery, variable speed drives, power storage and distribution, or industrial control and automation
- Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, grid support technologies, or power conversion systems
- Experience delivering mechanical and electrical systems integration or balance of plant projects
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract such as FIDIC or NEC
- Experience using SAP
