The role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Visitor to join the Inverclyde HSCP Children & Families Health Visiting Team. As a Health Visitor, you will provide a high-quality, safe and effective health visiting service within the community, working collaboratively with partner agencies to support children, young people and their families.
You will manage and supervise a health visiting caseload, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based care through robust assessment, referral and communication processes. Inverclyde HSCP is committed to the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), providing children with the best possible start in life while supporting staff through ongoing learning and professional development.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Key responsibilities:
You will provide a high-quality health visiting service to children and families within the community, working in partnership with families and a range of partner agencies to promote positive health and wellbeing.
You will have overall responsibility for managing a health visiting caseload, ensuring safe, effective and evidence-based care through comprehensive assessment, timely referrals and effective communication.
You will apply the GIRFEC and National Practice Model Framework to support safeguarding, early intervention and child protection, while managing risks and making informed decisions in complex situations. You will contribute to service development by implementing policies, procedures and service improvements, provide professional advice within multi-agency settings, and ensure children’s interests and safety remain at the centre of all decision-making.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Registered Nurse or Midwife educated to degree level or equivalent.

Post-registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing and registered on Part 3 of the NMC Register.

Educated to Master's level in a relevant nursing area, or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through completion of NES modules in Assessment, Leadership and Critical Thinking.

In-depth knowledge and experience of health visiting, child protection, GIRFEC and the National Practice Model Framework.

Knowledge of legislation relating to information sharing, data storage and public protection.

Understanding of health and social care pathways relating to safeguarding, early intervention and child protection.

Experience managing a health visiting caseload and planning work to meet deadlines.

Experience using a strengths-based approach when working in partnership with families.

Ability to use a range of assessment tools to determine appropriate referral pathways.

Skilled in risk management, critical thinking and decision-making in complex situations.

Ability to provide professional advice within multi-agency settings and contribute to policy, procedure and service development.

Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to continuing professional development.
