The role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 staff nurse to work within our unit. We provide haemodialysis treatment to renal outpatients. Our unit is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and is part of the larger NHS GGC renal services, which include six outpatient haemodialysis units, 2 community home therapies training units, and the main 65-bedded inpatient hub at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
We are looking for candidates who possess the relevant knowledge, clinical skills, and experience to thrive in this role. This is a busy unit and you will be expected to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals undergoing regular haemodialysis treatments.
Additionally, the role involves supporting the renal outpatient clinics, including kidney transplant follow-up and chronic kidney disease management.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a permanent post working 30 hours per week.
- We operate our rota on two patient shifts daily from Monday to Saturday, with nightshifts also operational on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Key responsibilities:
You will work within the nursing and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care to a defined patient group. You will be trained to perform the necessary technical aspects of care, including management and care of Tunnelled central venous catheters, cannulation of AV fistulas and operation of NIKKISO dialysis machines.
Teamwork is crucial, and we seek individuals who are committed to maintaining the positive and friendly atmosphere within our unit. Previous haemodialysis experience is preferable, but not essential, as teaching and training will be provided; the post is therefore an excellent opportunity to develop renal nursing skills within a friendly outpatient environment. Trainees are provided with the support of a local mentor and the renal educator team will provide a detailed training plan and materials along with support and education.
