At De Aston School, we are seeking a passionate and resilient Inclusion and Engagement Assistant to join our dedicated pastoral team. Duties

In this rewarding role, you will:

Work closely with targeted students to support behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing
Build positive relationships with students who may be disengaged from learning
Deliver tailored support programmes for individuals and small groups
Manage and de-escalate challenging situations with confidence and care
Support students in developing positive behaviours and returning successfully to mainstream learning
Contribute to behaviour plans, pupil profiles, and ongoing pastoral support strategies
Maintain accurate records of interventions and student progress
Promote a safe, supportive, and structured environment within the Inclusion and Behaviour Support Centre
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral leaders, families, and external agencies
Support behaviour management across the school, including breaktimes and lessons
Play an active role in school systems such as detentions and morning duties

Skills

We are looking for someone who is:

Passionate about supporting young people and making a difference
Resilient, calm under pressure, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Experienced (or eager to develop experience) in supporting students with behavioural or SEMH needs
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
A proactive team player who can also work independently
Committed to safeguarding, equality, and student wellbeing

Essential requirements:

GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
Good ICT skills, including the ability to use databases

Role details:

Hours: 35 per week (Mon–Fri 8:15am–3:45pm)
Weeks: 39 weeks + 5.6 weeks paid holiday
Salary: £21,027 (FTE: £25,989)
Start: 1st September 2026
Closing date: 9am Wednesday 1st July 2026

Interview date: Wednesday 8th July 2026
