Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Chemical Engineer to join our fantastic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for scaling up of chemical processing operations from laboratory and pilot plant stages to full commercial production.
You will bringing expertise in process design, fluid dynamics and plant optimisation within chemical processing or manufacturing environments. You will be committed to improving production efficiency, increasing plant throughput, reducing operating costs and ensuring safe, compliant and reliable operations.
Responsibilities
- Scale-Up & Commercialisation of processes for leaching of metals from source materials
- Design and implementation of chemical processing plants from initiation to completion including commissioning and acceptance testing
- Chemical Process Design & Development working with R&D scientists to ensure optimised process efficiency & including 3D modelling
- Fluid Dynamics modelling & Flow Analysis to determine accurate parameters for effective production
- Plant Capacity Optimisation
- Workflow & Production Efficiency Improvement
- Ensure Mixing, Pumping & Piping Systems are engineered for longevity, efficiency and safety
- Process Equipment Sizing & Specification to inform investment decisions
- Safety Management and Hazard Analysis across the chemical processing plant
- Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting to provide robust, permanent issue/problem resolution
- Focus on Continuous Improvement of chemical processes
- Own Process Control & Automation, identifying initiatives to drive safety and/reduce OPEX
- Ensure Environmental & Regulatory Compliance of processes
- Provide Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring to identify improvement opportunities
- In time the role will require travel to other Bio Scope locations as the business expands
You will need the following skills/experience
- Minimum BEng in Chemical Engineering or similar/related
- § Application of specialist chemical engineering knowledge in a growth environment
- Direct experience of hydrometallurgy desirable
- In depth knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and WEEE regulations desirable
- Practiced in fluid dynamics, process design and equipment design and selection
- Knowledgeable in applicable Health & Safety standards, including Hazard Identification, Risk Assessments and Process Safety Management
- Experienced in working with pump and compressor systems, mixing & agitation and pipe network analysis
- Process improvement
- Highly capable in creating and working with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and 3D modelling
- Experienced in the application of continuous improvement methodologies
- Expertise in design of engineering solutions for multiple interdependent chemical processes
