This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious and creative content maker to join the BBC Guernsey . You’ll be part of a dynamic and exciting team who put audiences at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a great multi-platform journalist who can really shape our output across radio, TV, online and socials. Aside from reporting you’ll also need to have a good range of other skills too; the ability to read bulletins, report live with bags of personality, and produce our radio shows.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- You’ll be part of a multi-skilled, team, creating compelling content across radio, TV and digital platforms.
- You’ll bring a passion for powerful audio storytelling, with a strong flair for writing engaging scripts and online articles that reflect what matters to local audiences.
- You’ll confidently self-shoot and edit video, producing high-quality visual content. you’ll generate original story ideas from a wide range of sources, delivering creative journalism that surprises and engages listeners.
Working to tight deadlines, you’ll uphold the highest editorial standards, producing accurate, impartial and trusted journalism.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- A strong understanding of Island life in Guernsey, with a clear sense of the stories and issues that matter most locally.
- Proven creativity, with the ability to generate fresh ideas and bring new, engaging treatments to stories across platforms.
- Experience in broadcast journalism across TV, radio and digital, with a genuine willingness to learn, develop and master multi-platform storytelling.
- A collaborative team player, able to work positively with colleagues and contribute to a supportive, high-performing newsroom.
- A solid understanding of the BBC Editorial Guidelines, with a commitment to accurate, impartial and trusted journalism
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience reading news bulletins, with a strong understanding of what makes a clear, engaging bulletin and the confidence to deliver breaking local and national news.
- Some on-air experience, including live reporting on radio and/or television, with the ability to think quickly in a live environment.
Experience of programme production, building effective working relationships with presenters and contributors to help deliver the strongest possible output.

We are a seven day a week operation, and this role may require some weekend working.
