Full job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with a passion for inspiring undergraduate students in veterinary medicine. We have a part-time role (0.4 FTE) available for a companion animal vet. Experienced clinicians who wish to move into education and develop their teaching expertise within a multidisciplinary department are encouraged to apply.

The primary focus of this role will be to support the clinical teaching in years three and four, preparing our students for their final year rotations. The role involves practical teaching, lectures and tutorials and there will be a requirement to travel to our offsite partners on occasion.

Candidates will be appointed at Lecturer A or Lecturer B level depending on experience. For more information see the job profiles below.

The full time equivalent salary for this role ranges from £37,694 - £56,535 plus an additional 10% payment for continued RCVS membership. As this is a part time role, the pro rata 0.4 FTE salary (including 10% payment) ranges from £16,585 to £24,875 per annum.

Our Lecturers play an important role in influencing the future of the veterinary profession. As such, you will have:

A passion for veterinary medicine and a strong commitment to delivering excellent teaching.
Enthusiasm and a willingness to work flexibly and creatively in different contexts are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Experience of teaching in an educational or professional setting and development of teaching materials is desirable. Those with experience of supporting new graduates in practice are encouraged to apply.
