Full job description

About the role

We're looking for an SEO Specialist to own and grow our organic search presence on our Shopify store. You'll work across technical, on-page, and off-page SEO, while also producing and directing blog content that ranks and converts. This is a hands-on role - you'll be doing the work, not just strategising.

What you'll do

Develop and execute our overall SEO strategy across on-page, off-page, and technical SEO
Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to identify ranking opportunities
Optimise existing pages and create briefs for new ones (meta tags, headings, internal linking, schema)
Audit and improve technical SEO on Shopify: site speed, Core Web Vitals, crawlability, indexation, structured data, sitemaps
Write blog content yourself, and brief/edit external writers when we scale up
Build a sustainable internal linking structure across the site
Lead off-page efforts: link building, digital PR, outreach, managing backlink profile
Track performance in GA4, Google Search Console, and tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush - and report on it monthly
Stay on top of algorithm updates and shifts in AI-powered search (AI Overviews, LLM citations)
Work with developers, designers, and content teammates to ship SEO improvements

What we're looking for

2-5 years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally in-house
Demonstrable Shopify SEO experience - you understand its quirks (duplicate content from collections, URL structure limitations, app-based vs. theme-level changes, Liquid basics)
Strong grasp of technical SEO fundamentals - you can talk to a developer without hand-waving
Proven track record of moving rankings and organic traffic on e-commerce sites (be ready to share examples)
Comfortable writing well - you can produce a publishable blog post, not just a brief
Fluent with GA4, Google Search Console, and at least one SEO suite (Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz)
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and how JavaScript affects SEO
Analytical mindset - you make decisions from data, not vibes
Self-directed; you can prioritise without being micromanaged

Nice to have

Experience with Shopify SEO apps (e.g. Smart SEO, Yoast for Shopify, Schema Plus)
Familiarity with schema markup and structured data implementation
Basic SQL or experience with Looker Studio / BigQuery
Experience optimising for AI/LLM-driven search results
Background in [your industry/vertical]

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Hounslow TW4 6BX
