ADG Architects Ltd is looking for a skilled and motivated Architectural Technician to join our growing practice in Darlington.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded individual who enjoys delivering high-quality construction information while taking an active role in the management and coordination of projects. Alongside producing technical drawings and documentation, the successful candidate will undertake Job Runner responsibilities, acting as a key point of contact for clients, consultants and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects from concept through to completion.
The Role
As an Architectural Technician, you will play a key role in the technical development and delivery of architectural projects. You will be responsible for producing accurate technical information while coordinating projects through the technical and construction stages, ensuring effective communication between the design team, clients and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, schedules and construction documentation.
- Develop and manage BIM/CAD models using Revit, AutoCAD and other relevant software.
- Assist with planning applications, Building Regulations submissions and technical approvals.
- Coordinate technical information with architects, engineers, consultants and contractors.
- Ensure designs comply with UK Building Regulations, technical standards and industry best practice.
- Support projects throughout all stages, from concept design through to construction.
- Take on Job Runner responsibilities, coordinating the day-to-day delivery of projects.
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors, consultants and local authorities.
- Attend Design Team Meetings (DTMs), site meetings and project progress meetings.
- Carry out site inspections and monitor construction progress, resolving technical queries where required.
- Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality expectations.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail while managing multiple projects.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working within an architectural practice.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and other relevant BIM/CAD software.
- A sound understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods and technical detailing.
- Experience, or the confidence to develop into, a Job Runner role with responsibility for project coordination.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors and consultants.
- Experience attending Design Team Meetings (DTMs) and site meetings.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable, as the role will involve site visits.
