Personal Advisor x2- Care Leavers Service

Permanent: Full Time

Location: Bradford

Office/Hybrid Arrangement – 5 days per week based in Odsal, BD6 1AT.

Ofsted Recognition

In the most recent Ofsted inspection in May 2026, the experiences and progress of care leavers in Bradford were judged to be Good.

Inspectors found that services for children, young people and care leavers had improved significantly since the previous inspection. They highlighted:

Better oversight and performance management.
A confident and supported workforce.
Professionals who are increasingly able to develop meaningful relationships with children, young people and care leavers.
Improved experiences and outcomes for care-experienced young people.

About the Role

Bradford Children and Families Trust Care Leavers Service aims to change this narrative. We want our care leavers to succeed and thrive. Personal Advisors are essential towards this aim. Personal advisors guide and support young people leaving care to navigate the path to adulthood and support them to build the skills and support networks that they need to live a successful adult life.

Personal Advisors help young people to plan for their future. They support young people by creating a pathway plan with them, which outlines their rights, entitlements what support they need to develop into adulthood and how this will be provided.

Personal Advisors are resourceful and practical, helping young people to develop the skills that they need such as money skills, managing a home, food shopping and other practical skills. They also help young people plan their education, training and employment options and help young people to get the right support they need for their health and wellbeing, social needs, relationships, and housing.

Our approach is rooted in restorative and relational practice, fostering trust, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships with children, families, and professionals.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to:

Give practical, personal and emotional support to children, young people to meet assessed need; to maintain and promote their health, physical, emotional development and wellbeing. This may include domestic tasks and transporting where necessary.
Demonstrate a good understanding of adolescent development and an understanding of leaving care legislation and leaving care rights and entitlements.
Specifically support and advise young people leaving care in key areas including health, benefits, education, training, employment, accommodation/housing and personal well-being.
Offer a range of other duties to support the above, including but not limited to:
Work alongside several professionals across children and adult organisations
Assess and review care leavers changing needs as they move into adulthood
Work flexibly and creatively to ensure positive engagement with young people remains in place
Support our care leavers through their pathway plan and maintain clear and young people focused case records and author reports/assessment

You’ll also be required to have:

G.C.S.E (or equivalent) Mathematics grade C and English grade C
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working directly with children, young people and families and hold an NVQ Level 4 in childcare/ Youth work or related field or considerable work-based experience in a similar field. Candidates without a Level 4 qualification must commit to completing this qualification in the first 12 months of appointment.
Experience in related fields such as homelessness, youth work, youth justice, residential care, or adult services is valuable.
Ability to build trusting and supporting relationships with young people.
Admin skills
Have excellent communication skills.
A driving licence and access to a car with business Insurance unless a disability prevents this.
