We are seeking a commercially minded and proactive solicitor with 3–5 years’ PQE to join our small and collaborative in-house legal team.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, this is a broad role offering significant responsibility and exposure across a wide range of legal matters. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, including Senior Leadership and Executive teams, providing timely, pragmatic and commercially focused legal support across the organisation. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact during an exciting and strategically important period for London City Airport.
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, solutions-focused and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to clearly communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including high value agreements.

Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across all business areas including commercial, procurement, IT, projects, insurance, compliance, company secretarial and governance.

Advise on legal and contractual risk to support sound commercial decision-making, communicating complex legal issues clearly and pragmatically to non-legal colleagues.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including Senior Leadership.
- Support the Head of Legal on strategic and business-critical matters.
- Liaise with external counsel where required.
- Support the continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working.
- Manage competing priorities effectively while contributing to the resilience and effectiveness of the legal team.
About you

Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 3–5 years’ PQE.
- Strong commercial law background, with previous in-house experience preferred.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including framework agreements, services agreements, consultancy contracts and technology licensing arrangements.

Strong understanding of key contracting risk areas.

Ability to manage a varied workload independently and prioritise effectively.
- Adaptable, proactive and comfortable handling unfamiliar matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- .Able to gain CTC clearance, a UK resident of three years standing to apply for clearance

Previous in-house legal experience.
- Experience in any of the following areas: company secretarial, data protection, commercial disputes, IT contracts, corporate and/or commercial property matters.
