Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).
The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client 'HS1 Ltd', undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.¿

Working Supervisor - Building & Civils Examiner (High Speed): Lead Safe, High ¿ Performance Infrastructure!

Shift Pattern: Days, Nights and weekends as required (Safety Critical)
We're looking for experienced, safety¿driven leaders to join our Building & Civils team on High Speed 1. In this key supervisory role, you'll lead from the front-directing, organising and motivating teams to deliver inspections, maintenance and renewal works safely, efficiently and to the highest standards across critical high speed assets.

What You'll Do
As a Working Supervisor - Building & Civils Examiner , you'll be accountable for the safe and effective delivery of Building & Civils activities, ensuring compliance with standards while supporting and developing your team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, organise and motivate teams and contractors to deliver work safely and efficiently.
Establish and maintain robust safety arrangements and Safe Systems of Work.
Undertake and direct inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities.
Confirm High Speed 1 Building & Civils examinations meet NRHS standards through report reviews and site visits.
Prepare work specifications, resource plans, method statements and Safe System of Work Plans.
Ensure staff hold valid, appropriate competencies for the work being undertaken.
Check that vehicles, plant, tools and equipment are fit for use and managed correctly.
Assist with allocation of resources and day¿to¿day management of staff.
Accurately record, report and maintain work and examination records.
Support competence management, development and welfare of team members.
Contribute to continuous improvement while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Who We're Looking For
¿ STE1 competency (or equivalent).
¿ Proven experience planning, implementing and controlling Safe Systems of Work.
¿ Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and embed a positive safety culture.
¿ Experience organising and delivering work safely, efficiently and to required standards.
¿ Excellent communication skills-verbal and written.
¿ Strong knowledge and experience of Building & Civils maintenance and renewal techniques.
¿ Knowledge of engineering policies and standards relating to structures, earthworks and tunnels.
¿ Ability to hold and retain competencies relevant to the role.
¿ Willingness and ability to drive vehicles as required by business needs.
What Could Set You Apart
¿ Working towards or holding a professional qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
Important Information
This is a safety critical role , requiring a medical assessment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing. The role involves flexible working patterns, including days, nights and weekends, so adaptability is essential.
