We are excited to recruit to our existing and well established CAMHS Specialist Speech & Language Therapy team within Greater Glasgow & Clyde Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
We are looking for a motivated Band 6 CAMHS Speech & Language Therapist on a permanent basis for 2 days per week (14.4hrs).
The post is fully embedded within the integrated Tier 3 Community CAMH team in West Glasgow, based at the West Centre in Drumchapel.
It is an exciting time of innovation and change with many opportunities within CAMHS, and you would join this friendly and supportive CAMH team.
We are seeking candidates with a broad range of paediatric clinical experience and an understanding of the relationship between speech, language and communication difference and mental health.
You would work within the multi-disciplinary team with professionals from a range of disciplines, as well as multi agency working. A key component of the role is to facilitate access to mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment for young people impacted by speech, language or communication difference including those impacted by neuro-developmental conditions.
Experience of working with children and young people in the context of mental health is preferable but not essential, as relevant training will be provided. Clinical supervision, caseload/workload management and mentoring are integral processes for SLTs working in GGC CAMHS.
Internal and external CPD opportunities are available for staff to develop their knowledge, skills and experience, including full induction and shadowing opportunities.
It is essential that you have a Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and have current HCPC registration

Key responsibilities:
- Assessment, care planning and delivery of specialised therapy programmes tailored to suit the needs of individuals with identification of specific measurable therapy outcomes.

Manage own specialist caseload as an autonomous practitioner, analysing client risk and need.

Engage effectively in clinical supervision, operational processes and CAPA arrangements that are critical to the effective delivery of SLT services.

Evaluate individual programmes of therapy and progress patient care using evidence based practice through the service towards discharge.

Maintain accurate client records and contemporaneous notes, ensuring client confidentiality and adherence to the Data Protection Act, and provide accurate and timely written and verbal reports.

Work collaboratively with the team around the child to jointly devise and implement plans to ensure effective outcomes.

Attend and contribute to uni- and multi-professional meetings and case conferences regarding specific clients.

Jointly assess and provide differential diagnoses as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Provide a range of activity data and statistical information as required by the SLT service.

Access CPD opportunities in line with Departmental appraisal and training strategies and guidelines as part of an agreed Personal Development Plan.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Appropriate Ordinary/Honours degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapeutics.

Certificate to Practice as a Speech and Language Therapist as awarded by the RCSLT.

Continuing registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
-
Knowledge and clinical experience with a range of paediatric SLT cases, eg Autism, Learning Disability, Attachment issues.

A Knowledge of mental health issues and conditions in children and young people.

Understanding of wider service issues, connections, priorities, Mental Health services and legislation.

Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in partnership with others.

Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Prioritisation skills ability to prioritise resources within service area in consultation with line manager.

Understanding and awareness of national and local policies and procedures relevant to health, social services and education.

Understanding and awareness of a range of appropriate therapeutic tools (relevant to the service area) and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

High level of reflective practice skills.
