About this job

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting residents at some of the most important moments in their lives. As a Junior Registration & Citizenship Officer, you will help deliver vital services including the registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, as well as citizenship ceremonies.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide a high-quality, customer-focused service, ensuring every interaction is handled with care, professionalism and attention to detail. You will manage appointments, guide customers through requirements, maintain accurate records and support the delivery of ceremonies.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, offering real opportunity to develop specialist knowledge while contributing to a service that makes a meaningful difference to residents.

Special requirements for this post

This role requires a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends to support the delivery of registration services and ceremonies.

You will be required to work in a customer-facing environment, often dealing with sensitive or emotional situations, and must demonstrate professionalism, tact and resilience.

The role involves handling confidential and sensitive information and requires strict adherence to data protection, security and information governance standards.

You will also be expected to undertake training and development to progress within Registration Services and develop specialist knowledge in line with statutory requirements.

You are someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You are confident communicating with a wide range of individuals and can manage sensitive situations with tact, empathy and professionalism.

You are organised, accurate and able to manage a varied workload, with strong administrative and IT skills. You understand the importance of getting things right and handling information securely.

You value diversity and inclusion, and you are comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and communities. You are a team player with a positive, flexible approach, and you are keen to learn, develop and build a career within a specialist service.

Registration Services sit within the Customer Experience directorate and play a vital role in supporting residents through key life events. The service is responsible for delivering statutory registration functions as well as ceremonies and related services to a high professional standard.
