Trainee Gardener
Hambledon Vineyard | Hampshire | Full-time
Hambledon Vineyard is looking for a Trainee Gardener to join our estate team and support the care, maintenance and presentation of our beautiful gardens, grounds and wider vineyard setting.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in practical work and is keen to continue developing their horticultural skills. You will work closely with the Head Gardener and wider estate team, helping to maintain the gardens, borders, woodland areas, lawns, visitor spaces and seasonal planting across the estate.
We are ideally looking for someone who already has, or is working towards, a Level 2 horticultural qualification such as RHS Level 2, City & Guilds or equivalent. However, attitude, reliability and a genuine interest in gardening are just as important.
What you’ll be doing
You will support with day-to-day gardening and estate maintenance, including planting, pruning, weeding, watering, mulching, composting, pest control and general upkeep. You will also help with seasonal projects, new planting schemes, woodland paths, kitchen garden work and keeping the estate looking welcoming and well cared for for our visitors, guests and team.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, practical and willing to learn. You will need to be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons, able to follow instructions carefully and take pride in doing things properly. A basic knowledge of plants, tools and safe working practices would be helpful, along with a Level 2 qualification or similar training.
You will be well suited to this role if you are reliable, hard-working, observant and enjoy being part of a team. A love of gardens, nature and the changing seasons is a must.
Why join Hambledon?
Hambledon is a pioneering English wine estate with ambitious plans for the future. Our gardens, grounds and wider estate are an important part of the guest experience, and this role is a brilliant opportunity to learn, grow and develop practical horticultural skills in a unique vineyard setting.
You will be part of a friendly, supportive team where care, pride and attention to detail really matter.
