Full job description

Do you have a passion for dog welfare and behaviour? Are you experienced in helping dogs overcome challenges and reach their full potential? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

Destitute Animal Shelter is looking for a dedicated and experienced Dog Behaviourist to join our team and play a vital role in improving the lives of rescue dogs.

Your role will include:

Working closely with our red dogs to support their rehabilitation and training needs
Conducting behavioural assessments and intake assessments for dogs entering our care
Creating and implementing individual behaviour and training plans
Training and supporting staff and volunteers in dog behaviour, handling and enrichment
Assisting with matching dogs to suitable adopters and providing behavioural guidance before and after rehoming
Visiting adopters in their homes to offer advice, support and training where required
Supporting members of the public who are considering surrendering their dog due to behavioural issues and providing guidance to help keep dogs in their homes where possible
Helping to improve the welfare and quality of life of every dog in our care

We are looking for someone with:

Experience working with dogs and behavioural training
Knowledge of positive reinforcement training methods
Excellent communication and customer service skills
A calm, resilient and professional approach
A strong commitment to animal welfare
A full UK manual driving licence
