Ground Technology Services (GTS) are looking for Land Surveyors / Setting Out Engineers to join their team who provide a comprehensive range of site surveying and ground investigation (GI) services. GTS are based at Attleborough, along with other engineering and design companies of the R G Carter Group. We support our group but also have a large external client base and operate throughout the East of England and occasionally UK wide.
Given continued growth in workload we look to increase of Land Surveying / Setting Out team and will consider all levels of experience. This is an opportunity join a dynamic team growing in capability which now includes ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveying. Some of our team have also extended their knowledge and capability into other services offered by our GI team such as hard-standing testing, soakage testing and ground water/gas monitoring. We would provide training for those interested in extending their land surveying/setting out capabilities in these areas.
Responsibilities:
- Provision of setting out support to a varied range of construction projects (ground engineering and superstructure elements) using modern methods to a high standard and efficiency.
- Undertake topographical surveys in accordance with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) 3rd edition with the production of both 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings.
- Ensure accurate records of drawings/specifications to ensure the latest revisions are used and available.
- Production of site sketches to aid discussions with site teams and operatives.
- Support junior members of the engineering team to assist with their knowledge and understanding of surveying and setting out methods and processes.
It would be to your advantage if you have experience with any of the following activities but not essential (training will be provided for those interested):
- Undertake Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys to detect and record below ground services in accordance to PAS128. A clear and precise AutoCAD drawing produced that is identifiable to the project team.
- Responsible for the quality assurance of materials and processes during the construction phase to ensure the project is built in accordance with the design and specification (e.g. concrete pre pour checks).
- Undertake on-site testing of concrete including cube samples and slump tests.
- Assist the geotechnical team with site investigation works such as plate bearing tests and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ideally qualified to at least HNC/HND in building/civil engineering (but not essential).
- Good communication skills.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to train and extend capabilities.
