Commercial Executive (Graduate/Trainee)

We are looking for a commercially minded graduate or someone at the beginning of their career to join our Commercial Team. This would be an excellent opportunity for a graduate in Business, Business Management, Economics, Travel and Tourism or a related subject who would like to develop a career in commercial management within the travel industry.

You do not need to be a data scientist or have advanced technical analytics experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, spotting patterns and using information to support practical business decisions. Strong Excel skills, commercial curiosity, attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude will be key.

You will receive support and training to develop your understanding of pricing, sales performance, forecasting, margins and the commercial operation of a successful tour operator.

Key responsibilities

Monitor sales performance and identify gaps, trends and commercial opportunities.
Review booking levels and help provide information to support promotional and campaign decisions.
Collate booking statistics and keep commercial records and reports accurate and up to date.
Communicate additions, amendments and cancellations to the tour programme.
Monitor competitor activity, compare pricing and products, and follow relevant market trends.
Review pricing strategies, booking trends and the pace at which holidays are selling.
Contribute to weekly forecasts covering expected passenger numbers, revenue and margins.
Compare actual performance against forecasts and budgets.
Support the assessment and pricing of group business opportunities.
Analyse monthly tour performance and communicate key findings to the Commercial Team.
Assist with quarterly performance reviews and the annual revenue-budgeting process.
Help identify opportunities to improve and streamline departmental processes.
Manage the Commercial inbox and respond to general day-to-day enquiries.
Build positive and professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
Assist with ad hoc commercial projects, research and reporting as required.

About you

You may be a recent graduate, currently working in an administrative or customer-focused role, or looking to take the first step towards a commercial career.

Ideally, you will have:

A degree in Business, Business Management, Economics, Travel and Tourism or another relevant subject, or equivalent transferable experience.
Strong numerical skills and confidence working with spreadsheets.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
An interest in how pricing, customer demand and sales performance affect business results.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
A curious mindset and the confidence to ask questions and investigate unexpected results.
Persistence, resilience and determination to see tasks through to completion.
A collaborative approach and willingness to learn.

Knowledge of UK geography or previous experience within travel, tourism, retail, stock management, finance or another commercial environment would be helpful, but it is not essential. Experience using Power BI would also be beneficial, although full technical experience is not required.
