Location: Princess Alexandra Hospital, Hamstel Road, Harlow, CM20 1QX

Contract /Hours: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary range: Up to £51,217 per annum DOE inclusive of regional pay allowance

With our core laboratory based at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, we also have an expanding site in Manchester as well as smaller hospital-based laboratories across the country. We maintain rigorously high standards of quality, whilst also delivering efficiencies to healthcare through careful workforce planning, pioneering technology and significant investment in infrastructure and IT.

Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard)

About the role:

A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) in our Biochemistry Department based at Princess Alexandra Harlow (PAH) Hospital following implementation of a new Pathology and Phlebotomy services programme commissioned by the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board which has commenced operation from 1st March 2025. As part of the commissioning of the Hertfordshire and West Essex (HWE) Pathology service HSL will establish a new hub laboratory based at 7 Croxley Park, Watford. This newly developed hub laboratory will provide pathology testing across a range of disciplines including Sample Reception, Biochemistry, Haematology, Routine Coagulation and Microbiology.

The laboratory at PAH provides a routine Biochemistry service 7 days a week. The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high-quality pathology service.

The ideal candidate will be committed to service excellence and have a genuine desire for continued personal and professional development. Candidates should have a suitable approved undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science (or equivalent), Specialist IBMS portfolio and or post graduate degree in relevant discipline and be registered with the HCPC. Post qualification laboratory experience is essential for this role.
