Team Leader – Residential Childcare

Salary: £34,056.00 - £35,976.00 per annum
Hours: Full-time (rota basis, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and Bank Holidays)

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Team Leader to join our growing team.

In this role, you’ll provide leadership and guidance to staff during shifts, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home. You’ll also work hands-on to support children and young people emotionally, practically, and therapeutically.

At PAST Care, being a Team Leader means more than managing routines — it’s about leading by example, inspiring your team, and being a positive role model for the young people in your care. Whether it’s cooking together, celebrating achievements, or supporting through challenges, you’ll help create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee shifts, ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism
Support daily routines, including meals, education, and activities
Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
Promote therapeutic, trauma-informed, and child-centred care
Act as an advocate for children in meetings and with external agencies
Maintain accurate, Ofsted-compliant records and care plans
Support positive behaviour through consistency, boundaries, and de-escalation
Mentor and coach staff, providing feedback and support to aid development
Lead on safeguarding and incident management when required
Contribute to a supportive and professional team culture

About You

Essential:

Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 4 desirable)
At least 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting
Experience leading shifts or supervising staff
Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma-informed practice
Passion for helping young people thrive and achieve their goals
