Full job description

LaunchPad Sports is looking for an ambitious, energetic and entrepreneurial basketball coach to lead the creation and growth of LaunchPad Basketball across Yorkshire and beyond.

This is not a traditional coaching role. We are looking for someone who wants to build something.

Over the last two years, LaunchPad has grown rapidly through our partnerships with primary schools, holiday camps, community sport programmes and local events. We are now looking to launch a community basketball pathway and are seeking the right person to lead it.

The Role

You will be responsible for creating and developing LaunchPad Basketball, establishing coaching programmes, community clubs, competitions and player pathways across multiple locations.

Initially, the role will focus on building participation through school partnerships, after-school clubs and community sessions before progressing into the development of local teams, leagues, tournaments and regional events.

You will work alongside our leadership team, who will provide operational, marketing, administrative and business development support.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement the LaunchPad Basketball programme.
Deliver high-quality, fun-first basketball coaching sessions.
Develop basketball clubs in multiple communities.
Build relationships with schools, parents and local partners.
Recruit, mentor and manage coaching staff.
Create basketball festivals, tournaments and competitive opportunities.
Support the growth of basketball within our school network.
Help establish long-term player pathways and club structures.
Contribute to the wider growth and development of LaunchPad Sports.

About You

You will:

Have experience coaching basketball players and teams.
Be passionate about participation, player development and community sport.
Be organised, proactive and highly motivated.
Have strong communication and leadership skills.
Be comfortable building relationships with schools and families.
Be excited by the opportunity to create and grow a programme from the ground up.
Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate.
