We are looking for an Assistant Greenkeeper to maintain and improve the daily maintenance, care and overall appreance of our Rudding Park Golf Courses, to ensure high quality playing services for our guests. You will be working as part of our Greenkeeping team, reporting directly to the Course Manager and Deputy.
What we are looking for:
All training can be provided however the following qualifications would be desirable;
- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or equivalent).
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates or chemical applications.
- Chainsaw certificates (e.g., CS30/31) may be beneficial.
- 2 years' green keeping experience is desirable
Personal Attributes:
- Physical Fitness: High stamina for manual labour in all weather conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for noticing subtle changes in turf health or course conditions.
- Communication: Ability to interact professionally with club members and teammates.
- Work Ethic: Reliability and flexibility for early morning starts and weekend rotas.
Working Conditions
- Hours: 40 hour week, with early starts (often from 6:00 AM) and weekend shifts to prepare the course before golfers arrive.
Environment:
- Primarily outdoors year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Turf Maintenance: Mow fine turf areas (greens, tees, fairways) using pedestrian and ride-on mowers; carry out aeration, scarification, and top-dressing.
- Course Preparation: Prepare the course for daily play by raking bunkers, cutting new holes on greens, moving tee markers, and marking hazards or ground under repair.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of machinery, including tractors, strimmers, and specialized turf equipment.
- Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policies, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals (COSHH) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Environmental Stewardship: Identify and control pests, diseases, and weeds; manage irrigation and drainage systems; and maintain wildlife habitats.
In return for your hard work and commitment we offer:
- Enhanced pay 50p per hour for evening work after 7pm (Sunday - Thursday), £1 per hour for weekend day work until 7pm (Saturdays and Sundays), £1.50 per hour for evenings from 7pm (Friday and Saturdays)
- Service Charge (Tronc) earn up to an additional £5,000 per year
