The Role
Ryedale House is a luxury apartment block in York city centre, comprising 77 apartments and 3 commercial units. The communal areas are managed by NIAM Property Ltd.
The Concierge acts as the first point of contact for all residents and guests, ensuring that Ryedale House remains a welcoming and premium accommodation block. This is a lone working role; the Concierge will generally be the sole member of staff on site during their shift, supported remotely by the Building Manager.
Key Duties
- Greet residents and guests and be available to answer any queries.
- Respond to enquiries via phone and email.
- Ensure the entrance area and reception are clean and tidy, using the cleaning equipment provided where necessary.
- Check for litter on site and remove when necessary.
- Conduct morning and afternoon inspections of the communal areas.
- Report any maintenance or health and safety issues to the Building Manager or partner maintenance providers.
- Accept parcels for residents and notify them of their arrival.
- Assist holiday let guests in collecting their keys.
- Ensure contractors are signed in when working on site.
- Monitor bin levels, change bins when required, and make them available for collection.
- Monitor the car park and issue guest passes when required.
- Notify leaseholders of any security alarm activations.
- Monitor CCTV in line with company data protection procedures.
- Issue resident fobs and maintain accurate records of fobs issued.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A polite, friendly and professional manner, with the confidence to build rapport with residents and holiday guests.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Able to problem solve and use initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
- Confident and proactive in providing feedback and alerting the Building Manager to any issues.
- Comfortable working alone and managing their own time on shift.
- Basic IT skills (email, phone systems, and logging parcels and visitors).
- Able to carry out light physical tasks, including cleaning, litter picking and moving bins.
- Reliable weekend availability and the right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience in a residential, hospitality or front-of-house setting.
- Good local knowledge of York to assist guests with directions and recommendations.
- Flexibility to work additional hours to cover colleagues’ holiday and sickness (paid at the standard hourly rate).
Other Information
The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of their right to work in the UK. Given the responsibilities of the role, including key and fob handling and CCTV monitoring, the appointment may be subject to satisfactory references and a basic DBS check.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
