We're looking for a friendly and reliable Summer-Temp Retail Associate to join the team at Moonface Records, helping to support our weekly Friday rota and provide additional cover during busy periods.
The role offers a guaranteed 7 hours every Friday, with opportunities for additional hours to cover holidays, sickness and business needs.
This position is ideal for someone looking for summer work around school, college or other commitments. No previous retail experience is required – full training will be provided.

We’re preparing to launch our first store in Bedford and are looking for a part-time Retail Associate to join the team.

Moonface Records is a very modern independent record shop with both a physical store and an online presence. We serve casual listeners and serious collectors alike, offering a wide range of new, sealed LPs and CDs alongside carefully selected pre-owned stock.
Our focus is on current and popular music, while also operating a flexible “ask and we’ll source it” approach to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for.
We recognise the resurgence of physical media—but we are focused on the future, not just nostalgia. Our aim is to make vinyl and CDs more accessible through fair pricing, a welcoming customer experience, and a modern retail approach.

Your Role
We are looking for a full-time and part time Retail Associate who can help us with day-to-day customer-related tasks. Your duties will primarily include:
Customer Experience
- Deliver a welcoming, inclusive, and non-elitist experience to every customer
- Engage customers naturally to understand their tastes and make genuine music recommendations
- Help customers discover new music across vinyl and CD formats
- Support a “for the people” retail environment — approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable without gatekeeping
Sales & Product Handling
- Process transactions accurately using the EPOS system (barcode scanning, cash/card handling)
- Maintain strong product knowledge across new releases, reissues, and pre-owned stock
- Assist with upselling and cross-selling (e.g. pairing related artists, formats, or genres)
- Support online order fulfilment (picking, packing, dispatching mailers)
Store Presentation & Merchandising
- Keep the shop floor clean, organised, and visually on-brand (minimal, modern, high-end feel)
- Replenish stock and ensure bins/shelves are well-presented and easy to browse
- Maintain clear section signage (e.g. New Arrivals, Pre-Owned, Staff Picks)
- Assist with window displays and in-store features that reflect the Moonface identity
Stock Management
- Assist with receiving deliveries and checking stock against invoices
- Price and label products accurately
- Support stock rotation — ensuring new releases and key titles are prominently displayed
- Help manage pre-owned inventory (grading, sorting, organising)
Trading & Commercial Awareness
- Contribute to achieving daily and weekly sales targets
- Understand key trading moments (e.g. Fridays = new releases, weekends = peak footfall)
- Support promotions, campaigns, and in-store events (e.g. Record Store Day)
- Provide feedback on customer demand, trends, and popular titles
Team & Culture
- Represent the Moonface brand values — independent, bold, and customer-first
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain energy and standards on the shop floor
- Be proactive — identify ways to improve the store experience and sales performance
- Maintain a positive, can-do attitude during busy trading periods
Compliance & Operations
- Follow all cash handling, security, and store procedures
- Ensure health & safety standards are maintained at all times
- Support opening and closing procedures when required
Pay: £8.25-£10.85 per hour
